Rachel Orloske began her piano studies at the age of four in her native country of Taiwan. She was a winner of several piano competitions within this residence. After achieving awards at the Taiwan National Piano and Kawai Piano Competitions, Dr. Orloske decided to further her skills in the United States in 1996 as a student at New England Conservatory of Music. Throughout her experiences, she has studied with Hsin-I Chen, Victor Rosenbaum, Jacob Maxin, David Westfall and world famous pianist Boris Berman.

Since moving to the United States, Dr. Orloske’s performances as a soloist with orchestra include appearances with the Hartt School Symphony Orchestra, Central Connecticut State University’s Orchestra and the New England Youth Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Orloske has also performed in major music festivals which include The Tanglewood Institute and Aspen Music Festival. 

In conjunction with initiating her private piano studio since year 2000, Dr. Orloske continues to develop her own set of pedagogical philosophies while teaching a variety of ages and levels. Due to her students receiving awards in local and states competitions, their acceptance to top universities and conservatories have occurred around the world. In addition to her own private piano studio, Rachel Orloske has taught piano performance at Hartt School of Music as a teaching fellow.

Rachel Orloske received her Bachelor of Music Degree from New England Conservatory of Music, Master of Music Degree and Doctoral Degree from Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. She currently resides in Katy, Texas, with her husband Christopher and two daughters .

Payment Terms

  • Tuition will be paid by monthly. Tuition payments must be paid in full on or by the first lesson of the month.

  • Payments are excepted by CASH, CHECK,PayPal or QUICK PAY ONLY. If a check is returned, the return check fee is $40.

  • Frequent late payments may result in termination of lessons.

  • Late tuition payments will be assessed the following fees:

                       *One week Late-20% of the total amount due

                       *More than one week late-30% of the total amount due

  • Any additional material fees vary between students. Extra costs will be added within tuition payments and can include: lesson books, recital venue fee, etc.

  • If a lesson falls on a holiday, then the lesson will be skipped.

Lesson Cancelation, Termination and Refunds

  •  No refunds will be provided for cancellation of the lesson by the student for any reason.

  • Refunds may be provided if a lesson is canceled due to my absence ONLY, and if I am unable to schedule a make-up lesson, I will grant a refund. In order to terminate lessons, a date written notice must be provided at least three weeks in advanced. Disregarding this condition will result in a charge of 3 weeks of student’s tuition

  • August through June Lessons are continuous and ongoing, effective as of the date you sign the Studio Policy and Agreement. Student may terminate lessons for any reason. To terminate lessons, Student must provide at least one month’s advance written notice to Studio, during the months of (August – June) which month the tuition has been paid in full.  If Student does not provide one month’s advance written notice, the Studio shall charge Student and Student shall be liable for, one month’s tuition in full, even if no lessons are provided during that month.  For example, if you give us notice, on March 1, you would pay for March & end your lessons at the end of March.  However, if you give us notice after on March 2nd , or later in the month. You would have to pay for March and April, even if you don’t attend any lessons.

  •  ***Phone calls, text messages, and e-mails will not be accepted as a form of withdrawal, or break.

Conduct

 

**Do not bring food and drink to the studio. Water is acceptable.

 

**Proper hand hygiene is excepted. Fingernails are strongly recommended to be cut short.

Attendance and Make Up Lesson Policy

  • If a student misses a lesson because of sickness, a make-up lesson is possible due to my availability. There is a maximum of only ONE possible make-up lessons granted per-semester.If you think you have a tight schedule and need to take a month off, you still need to pay for that month.

  • Arriving on time is at the upmost importance. This act demonstrates respect and links to proper progress of instruction.

  • If a student is sick, it is advised NOT to attend. However, if the student desires a lesson nevertheless, students must wear a protective mask that covers the nose and mouth during the entire length of the lesson. Please, notify me ASAP if this course of action is required

  • The calendar year for lessons will finish at the end of June. In July, two lessons will occur at the arrangements between teacher(s) and parent(s).

  • The new calendar year for lessons will begin at the start of August. 

Parents and Guardians

  • Beyond the first one or two lessons, parents MAY keep attending the lessons but SHOULD NOT interfere in the process no matter how well the intention may be.

  • All student information and progress will be communicated within a communication book. However, if there are any pressing additional questions regarding student progress, please ask at the start of the lesson rather at the end.

Practice and Homework

  • Beginners are recommended to practice 15-20 minutes a day. Intermediate students should practice 30-45 minutes a day. Advanced students should practice minimum 1 hour.

  • Practicing should strive to implement listening skills, finger technique and musical interpretations covered within the previous lessons.
